BackThe Challenge
Patients with cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices require regular check-ups with their physicians to ensure their devices are functioning properly and the appropriate therapy is being administered. Managing a growing number of patients implanted with CRM devices, as well as the related follow-up, is increasingly demanding for clinicians. The challenge was to introduce a remote monitoring system enabling caregivers to access comprehensive data recorded by the implanted device whilst the patient is at home.
The Solution
Wirefast, working with and integrating into Orange Business Services infrastructure, created a delivery mechanism based on Sorin’s implanted CRM devices. Wirefast utilised the ability to send data to a non-invasive monitoring system located at the patient’s home, with details sent via fax and SMS directly to the patients’ physicians.
The solution facilitates the follow-up care of patients by transmitting data electronically from patients’ implanted cardiac devices to their physicians, without patients leaving their homes. Using this data, physicians can detect arrhythmia or cardiac disease progression and provide timely therapy, which may reduce the need for hospitalisation and improve patients’ quality of life.
